Kentucky Knifemakers News

January 2011  -  New Website Policy

Beginning in January 2011 the Kentucky Knifemakers website will charge $10 per year for knifemakers and associates to be listed. That does include your own individual web pages and updates throughout the year. We don't think you will find a better advertising bargain than that. I provided this service free for the first year and I will continue to donate my time to maintain and update the website but it is only fair that makers listed here pay something to offset the annual hosting and domain name fees.

If you are a Kentucky knifemaker or have a related Kentucky business that you would like to showcase here, please contact me at admin@kentuckyknifemakers.com

January 2011

The Kentucky Knifemaker website has been up for one year now. I can't say it has been a barn-burner in terms of success but we did have over 1100 visitors from over 25 countries in 2010. We currently have 15 Kentucky knifemakers and a few associates listed and profiled. I hope to see that number increase in 2011. Thanks to all of you who have supported this effort to bring recognition to the many fine craftsmen residing in our great state.

January 20, 2010:

The news today is that I launched this website! Organizing Kentucky Knifemakers has been a quest of mine for the last couple of years. Lately I have been very pleased that considerable interest has been expressed by a number of Kentucky knifemakers to make something happen as a group. We don't yet know exactly what will happen but ideas discussed have included a Kentucky Knifemakers Guild, meetings, a hammer-in and possibly an annual show.

I have identified 57 Kentucky Knifemakers so far including myself. Many of us have never met as we are scattered all over the state.  I hope this website is a start as a central directory of Kentucky Knifemakers. We hope to have some sort of gathering in the spring of 2010 and I am working on making that happen. Stay tuned to the page for news as it develops.
